That there PS4, my grandson, he got one. Says it’s for playin’ games, that 2K somethin’ or other. He’s always yellin’ at the screen, somethin’ about PS4 2K controls. I don’t know nothin’ about it, but I seen him playin’, looks complicated.
He’s got that there controller, all them buttons. He showed me once, said this button here, you use it to make the little men on the screen run faster. Like when you’re chasin’ a chicken that got loose, you gotta be quick on your feet! He says that’s called a sprint button, or somethin’. This PS4 2k control is important he said. He said if you’re not fast enough, them other little men, they’ll take the ball away. Just like them darn squirrels stealin’ nuts from the pantry.

Then there’s this other button, he says it makes the little men jump. Jump real high, like they’re tryin’ to reach the top shelf where I keep the cookies. He uses it to put the ball in that hoop. He says it’s called “shootin’.” He does this one all the time, always tryin’ to get that ball in the hoop. Makes a lot of noise when he does it, too. Shouts “Yes!” when it goes in, like he just won the lottery or somethin’.
- Press X, he says, that’s to make the little man pass the ball to another little man. He says they gotta work together, share the ball. Kinda like when we share the chores around here, everyone’s gotta pitch in.
- That other round button, the circle one, my goodness, he said it is to bounce the ball, you press it and hold it, the little man will bounce it. He said in this game, it is important to control the ball, like the chicken in the farm. This is some important PS4 2K control too.
- There are a couple other buttons, called R1 and R2, and he said use the joystick and these buttons you can pass the ball in a fancy way. My, those young people and their fancy way of doing things.
He told me somethin’ about “defense,” too. Said you gotta use these other buttons to try and stop the other little men from puttin’ the ball in the hoop. Like when you put up a fence to keep the rabbits out of the garden. He said if you hold one of the buttons, the little man will try to steal the ball, like you are grabbing some carrots from the others. My grandson said this is some secret PS4 2k controls, don’t tell others he said.
He keeps talkin’ about somethin’ called “dribblin’,” too. Sounds like what a baby does when it’s eatin’. But he says it’s how you move the ball around with the little men on the screen. You gotta be real careful, he says, or the other team will take it away. Just like when you’re carryin’ eggs from the henhouse, gotta be careful not to drop ’em.
He says there are many ways of doing it, like move the joystick fast, you can do some special move. I really don’t understand, he just said keep practicing, then you will know all the PS4 2k controls.
There is also this called “post play.” I don’t understand that neither. But he said if you are strong, you can hold L2 and try to push others. He tried to show me, but it is too much for me.
All them buttons, it’s a lot to remember. I reckon it’s like learnin’ a new recipe, takes time and practice. He’s always practicin’, that boy. Says he wants to be the best at this 2K thing. He spends hours on that there machine, clickin’ away at them buttons. Sometimes I worry he’s gonna wear his thumbs out!
I asked him one time, “Why you spend so much time on that game?” He said it’s fun, and he likes to play with his friends. They all play together, even though they ain’t in the same room. That’s somethin’ I don’t understand. Back in my day, if you wanted to play with your friends, you had to go outside and find ’em!
He said you can also play with people from all over the world. That is mind-blowing. How can you play a game with someone who is so far away? Technology these days, it’s somethin’ else. He said those PS4 2K controls are the same no matter where the player is.
But I guess it makes him happy, and that’s all that matters. He’s a good boy, even if he does spend too much time on that video game. And he’s always willin’ to help me with the chores, when he’s not busy with his PS4 2K controls, that is. He helps me fetch the water from the well, feeds the chickens, even helps me bake sometimes. He’s got a good heart, that one.
Maybe one day I’ll try that game myself. See what all the fuss is about. But I doubt I’ll be any good at it. My old fingers ain’t as quick as they used to be. I’m more used to knittin’ needles than them video game controllers. But who knows, maybe I’ll surprise myself. Maybe I’ll be a natural at this 2K thing. Wouldn’t that be somethin’?

But for now, I’m content to just watch him play. It’s entertainin’, I’ll give him that. And it’s nice to see him so excited about somethin’. Even if it is just a silly video game. As long as he’s happy, that’s all that matters to me. And who knows, maybe one day he’ll teach his old grandma how to use them PS4 2K controls. Then we can play together. That would be somethin’ special, wouldn’t it?
