Madden 24, that football game, you know? My grandson, he plays it all the time. Screaming at the TV, I tell ya. He tried to show me, but it’s all too much for these old eyes. But I hear him talking about this thing, this “touch pass.” Sounds fancy, huh? It ain’t like tossing feed to the chickens, that’s for sure.
He says it’s the best way to throw the ball in that Madden 24 game. He goes on and on about this “Placement & Accuracy” thing. Sounds like a load of hogwash to me, but what do I know? He says it’s like a special way to throw in Madden 24. You gotta be real careful with it. Like threading a needle, but with a football on a TV screen. Crazy, right? But he swears by it. Says once you get the hang of it, you’ll be throwing that ball like a pro. Dropping dimes, he calls it. Whatever that means.

This touch pass, it ain’t too fast, ain’t too slow. Just right, he says. You can use it for all sorts of things in that game. More than the other ways of throwing, he says. There’s a slow one, the “Lob Pass.” He says it is the slowest pass in the game. Only good for certain times. Like when you gotta toss it way up high, over the other fellas. Or something like that. Then there’s the “Bullet Pass.” That one’s real fast. Good for when you gotta get it to your man quick, right in the middle of all the action.
But this touch pass in Madden 24, that’s the one he uses most. Says it’s good for when you gotta drop the ball right over some fella’s head. Not too hard, not too soft. Like I said, just right. But it ain’t easy, he says. You gotta press the buttons just so. A little bit like the fast one, a little bit like the slow one. Took him a while to figure it out, he said. Kept messing it up at first.
- That touch pass, you use that button for it in Madden 24.
- That lob pass, you use a different button for that.
- And that bullet pass, yeah, another button.
These young folks and their games. Back in my day, we played outside. We didn’t need no fancy TV screens and buttons to have fun. We had sticks and rocks and our own two feet. But I guess times change. He seems to like it, this Madden 24 thing. And he’s always talking about that darn touch pass. Must be something special, I reckon, if he’s so excited about it.
He keeps saying you can’t do a touch pass good. Or a lob pass either. He gets mad. Says his guys are wide open, ten yards he says, and he still can’t get the ball to them. Ten yards! That’s like from here to the chicken coop! He throws his hands up, yells at the TV. I just shake my head. Kids these days.
But he keeps trying. Practicing that touch pass. Over and over. He says you gotta have good timing. Like baking a pie. You gotta know when it’s just right. Too early, it’s no good. Too late, it’s burnt. Same with the touch pass, he says. Gotta hit that button at just the right moment.
He also said something about the touch pass being “less common” but “useful”. Now that I don’t get. If it is so useful, why ain’t it used more often? He tried to explain it, about some “underneath defender” thing in Madden 24. Just sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me. That is the defense man, I guess. And the touch pass, it can go over him, if you do it right. But only sometimes. Depends on the situation, he says. Oh, these kids and their complicated games.
Sometimes, he lets me watch him play. I see all those little men running around on the screen. It’s all a blur to me. But I can tell when he does that touch pass. The ball kinda floats through the air, all nice and gentle. Then one of his men catches it, and he jumps up and down, all excited. I guess that’s what they call a touchdown.
So, that’s what I know about this touch pass in Madden 24. It’s some fancy way of throwing the ball in that football game. It ain’t easy, but it’s good, or so my grandson says. He sure seems to like it. And that’s all that matters, I suppose. As long as he’s happy, that’s fine by me. Even if I don’t understand half of what he’s talking about.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens. They don’t need no fancy touch passes to get their food. Just a good old-fashioned toss. And that’s something this old lady can still do.
