Well, well, well, looky here! You wanna know about that MLB The Show roster update, huh? My grandson, he’s always glued to that game. Drives me up the wall, but hey, what can you do? Kids these days!
So, this here MLB The Show, it’s some baseball game, right? And they gotta update them players, like, when they do good or bad, or when they get traded to some other team. That’s what this whole roster update thing is about. Keepin’ things fresh, ya know?
Now, when is the next one comin’? That’s the big question, ain’t it? They say it’s every two weeks. Every two weeks they mess around with them players and their numbers. Sheesh, seems like a lot to me, but what do I know? I’m just an old lady who likes to watch her stories on the TV. It’s not April 5th, that one’s over.
They do it on Fridays, usually. That’s what them folks online say. Friday afternoon, at 3 o’clock Eastern Time. Now, what in tarnation is Eastern Time? I reckon it’s some fancy time zone back East. We’re simple folk out here, we just go by the sun. But, these game fellas, they gotta be all precise and such. So, every other Friday, 3 p.m. Eastern, they update them rosters.
And let me tell ya, these updates, they take their sweet time with ’em. Two weeks, they say, to figure out who’s playin’ good and who’s playin’ bad. Two weeks! Back in my day, we didn’t need no two weeks to figure that out. You just watched the game, and you knew. Simple as that. These game developer fellas, they got it easy if you ask me.

This here MLB The Show 24, that’s the newest one, I reckon. My grandson, he got it the minute it came out. March something, he said. 2023, I think? Or maybe 2024. Lordy, the years just fly by, don’t they? These game companies, they sure know how to keep these young’uns hooked, don’t they? New game every year, gotta have the latest and greatest. It’s all a racket if you ask me. This one is the 18th one they made! 18! Can you believe that?
Now, how do you even do this update thing? Well, you gotta go to some menu, I reckon. Main menu, they call it. Then you find somethin’ called “Settings,” and then “File Management.” Sounds complicated, don’t it? Like filin’ your taxes or somethin’. Then, you gotta “Load Data.” What does that even mean? Load it up like a truck? I don’t know. But you pick the newest one, the latest roster update file, whatever that is, and boom, you’re done. Sounds like a whole lotta mumbo jumbo to me.
The Show, they call it. The Show. Like it’s some kinda big-time movie or somethin’. Back in my day, we just called it baseball. Plain and simple. Kids these days, they got all these fancy names for things. And they talk about it all the time, this The Show, like it’s the most important thing in the world. I guess it is to them. It’s where they talk about MLB The Show, that’s what they say.
This whole roster update thing, it’s a big deal to these gamers. They’re always talkin’ about it, waitin’ for it, like it’s Christmas mornin’ or somethin’. They get all excited about these new numbers and these player changes. I don’t get it, but hey, to each their own, right?
So, there ya have it. Everything I know about this MLB The Show roster update. It’s a lot of hoopla over a game, if you ask me. But, these kids today, they love it. And if it keeps ’em outta trouble, I guess it ain’t so bad. Just wish they’d spend more time outside, playin’ real baseball, instead of starin’ at that screen all day. But, what do I know?
