Alright, let’s talk about this March of the Machines Draft Archetypes thing. Don’t you go thinkin’ this is some fancy-schmancy stuff, ’cause it ain’t. It’s just cards and how you pick ’em, plain and simple.
What’s this “Archetype” Business Anyway?

Now, these young folks, they call ’em “archetypes.” Sounds all highfalutin, don’t it? But it just means what kind of deck you’re buildin’. Like, are you gonna be all about beatin’ ’em down fast? Or maybe you like messin’ with their heads with tricky spells? That’s your archetype.
How Many of These “Archetypes” We Got?
They say there’s ten of ’em in this March of the Machines. Ten! Seems like a lot to keep track of, but you just gotta focus on what you see. Don’t get your head all cluttered with thinkin’ too much.
- Pickin’ Your Colors: First thing’s first, what colors you gonna play? They say some colors are better than others. Like that blue and that black, they seem to be doin’ alright. White and red? Too many folks pickin’ ’em, they say. But I say, pick what you get, and make it work. Don’t be followin’ the crowd like sheep.
- Look for the “Signpost” Cards: These are the ones that tell you what to do. They’re special, see? They ain’t the fanciest, but they point the way. If you see one, you grab it, and you start buildin’ around it.
Them Color Combos, They Matter
Now, them smart folks, they say some color combos are better. Blue-white and blue-black, they win more, or so they say. But don’t you go thinkin’ that’s the only way. I’ve seen folks win with all sorts of crazy stuff. It’s about the cards you get, and how you use ’em.
Is This Draft Thing Hard or Easy?
Some folks say this March of the Machines draft is a tough one. Too many choices, they say. Too complicated. But I say, nothin’s too complicated if you just pay attention. Look at what you got, and figure out how to win with it. Don’t need no fancy book learnin’ for that.
Other Drafts, They’re Different
They talk about other drafts, like that Modern Horizons 3. Say it’s easier. The decks are all laid out for ya, and you just gotta pick the best cards. But where’s the fun in that? I like a little challenge. I like figurin’ things out for myself.
My Advice, For What It’s Worth

So, if you’re gonna do this draft thing, here’s what I say:
- Don’t be scared to experiment: Try different colors, different cards. Don’t just do what everyone else is doin’.
- Pay attention to what you get: Don’t go chasin’ after cards you ain’t gonna get. Work with what you have.
- Don’t overthink it: This ain’t rocket science. It’s just cards. Have fun with it.
Some Folks Say Blue is Good, Black is Okay
They did some figurin’ and say not enough folks are pickin’ blue cards. And black cards, well, they could use a few more folks too. Green’s just right, they say. But white and red? Too many hands grabbin’ for ’em. So maybe, just maybe, you take a look at that blue. See what it can do for ya.
This “Pick Order” Thing
Some folks make a big deal about pick order. What to pick first, what to pick second. But me? I just pick what I need. If I need a creature, I pick a creature. If I need a spell, I pick a spell. Don’t need no fancy list tellin’ me what to do.
It’s All About the Cards in Your Hand, Not the Fancy Names
So, there you have it. This March of the Machines draft, it ain’t so scary. Just pick your cards, build your deck, and see if you can win. And if you don’t win, well, you try again. That’s what I always say. Don’t you go worryin’ about all them fancy terms. Just play the cards, and have a good time. That’s all there is to it, really. And don’t let nobody tell you different.
Remember, it’s about what you got, not what they say you should have. You go out there and show ‘em what you can do.
