Well now, if you’re sittin’ here wonderin’ how to get traded in MLB The Show 24, lemme tell ya, it ain’t as simple as it used to be in them older games. In them days, you could just go up to your agent and tell ’em, “I ain’t happy where I am, I wanna be traded,” and that was that. But now, in this newfangled version, things ain’t quite so easy.
See, in MLB The Show 24, they done gone and removed that feature. No more just askin’ for a trade whenever you feel like it. So, what are you gonna do? Well, you got to play the game a bit differently now, that’s for sure.

First off, you can’t just up and ask for a trade no more. The only real way for a player to have control over their trade situation is if they’ve been in the league for 10 or more years and spent at least 5 of them with their current team. These players, they call ‘em “10 and 5” players, and they got special rights. They can’t be traded without their say-so. So unless you got that kind of experience, you ain’t gonna be calling the shots about when or where you go.
But don’t go thinking that’s the end of it. There is still a little way you can get traded, though it’s not exactly the way you’d like it. Here’s the trick: When you’re in the game and you’re talking to your agent, sometimes they’ll call you up and ask how you’re doin’. When that happens, you gotta say somethin’ like, “I feel like I need a change. A new place, a fresh start.” That’s about the closest thing you’ll get to asking for a trade, and usually, after that little chat, you’ll be movin’ on to another team.
But hold your horses, you ain’t gonna get to pick your team, though. Nope, you can’t be all picky and say, “I wanna go to the Yankees,” or “Send me to the Dodgers.” Nah, you just get traded wherever they send ya, and that’s the end of it.
Now, if you’re into the Diamond Dynasty part of the game, there’s a little more you can do. You see, inside Diamond Dynasty, you can buy perks from the Marketplace. It’s like a little store where you can buy and sell stuff with these “stubs” you earn in the game. But, and here’s the thing, you can only equip up to four perks for your player. So, while you can’t control trades directly, you can sure as heck improve your player’s performance and make yourself a valuable asset, which might help you get traded faster in the long run.
So, in summary:
- You can’t request a trade directly in MLB The Show 24 like you used to.
- If you’ve been in the league for 10 years and 5 with your current team, you got some control over your trade situation.
- You can talk to your agent and hope for a trade after mentioning you need a “change.”
- You can’t pick your destination; the game decides that for you.
- Diamond Dynasty offers some perks that might help you get noticed and traded quicker.
That’s about all there is to it. It ain’t perfect, but it’s what we got. So, keep on playin’, and maybe you’ll find yourself wearin’ a new uniform before you know it!
