Okay, so I wanted to mess with the raw input setting in CS:GO today. I’d heard some people talking about it, saying it could make your aim feel more consistent. I was curious, so I decided to give it a shot.
First, I jumped into the game. You know, fired it up like usual. Then, I opened up the console. Gotta hit that tilde key (~) to bring it down. Once the console was open, I typed in m_rawinput. Just that, nothing else. I hit enter and the console showed me the current setting. It was set to “0”, which meant raw input was OFF.

To turn it on, I typed m_rawinput 1 and hit enter again. The console kinda just blinked, didn’t really give me any big confirmation, but I figured it was on.
- I hopped into a deathmatch server. Seemed like the best way to get a quick feel for it.
- Honestly, at first, I didn’t notice a HUGE difference. Like, it wasn’t night and day.
- But after a few rounds, I started to feel like my mouse movements were… cleaner? More direct, maybe?
- It’s hard to describe, but it felt like my aim was responding a little bit better to my hand movements. Less “floaty,” if that makes sense.
My Testing
I played for a good hour or so, just trying to get a good feel for it. I even switched back to m_rawinput 0 for a few minutes, just to compare. And yeah, going back, it felt a little… off. Like there was some extra processing going on, even if it was tiny.
So, after messing around with it, I think I’m gonna keep raw input ON. It might be a placebo effect, who knows, but it felt better to me. It felt like my aim was more mine, if that makes any sense. Like the game was listening to my hand and only my hand, not doing any extra smoothing or whatever behind the scenes.
My overall feeling is rawinput is good for * you are thinking about improving your aim in csgo, just give it a try!
