Alright, so I’ve been grinding away at MLB The Show 24’s Road to the Show mode, and everyone wants to know: how long does it take to get that glorious call-up to the majors? Well, I just went through it, so here’s my experience, start to finish.
I started a new Road to the Show, creating my player. I decided to go with a two-way player, you know, a pitcher and a hitter, just like Ohtani. I figured it might take a bit longer, but hey, double the fun, right?

First up, you play through the showcase games. These are basically tryouts where you show off your skills. I performed okay, nothing spectacular, just tried to make solid contact and throw strikes.
Then came the draft. Honestly, I didn’t get picked super high, I think it was like the 5th or 6th round. No biggie, it just means more time to develop, I guess.
After that, I landed in Double-A. This is where the real grind begins. You’re playing games almost every day, trying to improve your stats and get those attribute points.
- Hitting: I focused on making good contact, not always swinging for the fences. Power comes later, I figured. Getting on base is key.
- Pitching: I mixed up my pitches, trying not to be predictable. Also, I worked on my control, trying to avoid walks. Walks are killers.
- Training: Between games, I hit the training facility. I mostly focused on the drills that boosted my player’s weak spots.
I spent a good chunk of time in Double-A. I think I played through maybe one and a half seasons there. It felt like forever, to be honest. My stats were slowly creeping up, but it wasn’t a rocket ship to the top.
Then, finally, I got the call-up to Triple-A! This was a big step. The competition was noticeably tougher. Better pitchers, better hitters, the whole nine yards.
I kept grinding in Triple-A. I remember I had a really good stretch where I hit like five home runs in a week. That definitely helped my case.
The Big Moment
Finally, after about half a season in Triple-A, it happened. I got the email – I was being called up to the majors! It was a pretty awesome feeling, I’m not gonna lie. All that hard work, all those games, it finally paid off.
So, to answer the question, how long did it take? For me, playing as a two-way player, it was roughly two full seasons, maybe a little less. It might be faster if you’re just a position player or just a pitcher, and it definitely depends on how well you perform. But that’s my story, and I hope it helps you on your own Road to the Show!
