Okay, so I was trying to hop on Call of Duty the other day, ready to unwind after a long day. I launched the game, went to sign in, and bam! Got hit with a “timed out while signing into online platform” error. Super frustrating, right?
My first reaction? Panic. I mean, not real panic, but you know, gamer panic. I immediately tried again. Same error. Okay, something’s definitely up.

I started with the basics. I restarted the game. Nope. Still timed out.
Then, I thought, maybe it’s my internet. So I rebooted my router and modem. Gave them a good ol’ power cycle. Waited a few minutes, and tried again. Still no luck.
At this point, I’m getting a little annoyed. I checked the Call of Duty server status online. Everything looked green, so it wasn’t a widespread outage.
Next, I figured, let’s verify the game files. Maybe something got corrupted. I went through the process in Steam (it’s slightly different on other platforms, and located the option “verify integrity of game files”, and the process started. That took a while, but when it finished… still the same error!
Okay, deeper dive time. I restarted my PC completely. I did try some other games, and was be able to connect to the other games’ online service, so it’s not my network issue.
I spent like, a solid hour just trying different combinations of restarting things and checking settings. Nothing seemed to work.I felt a little bit despair.
Eventually, I decided to unistall the game, and reinstall. Clicked on the unistall button, and went to bathroom. Came back, and download, install.
I launched the game, went to sign in, and SUCCESS!. Finally I can play!.

So, if you’re hitting that “timed out” error, don’t give up! Keep trying things, and eventually, you’ll (hopefully) get back in the game.
