Alright, guys, so I’ve been grinding hard on Pokémon Go lately, trying to build up my perfect team. And you know I’ve been focusing on my Rhyperior – that thing is a beast! But to truly make it shine, you gotta have the right moveset. So, I dove in, did a ton of battling, and experimented like crazy. Here’s what I found works best.
My Rhyperior Moveset Journey
First, I started with the basics. You know, checking out what moves Rhyperior could even learn. I found it has a pretty decent range, mixing Ground and Rock, with a few surprises thrown in. My initial thought was to go full-on Rock-type, because, well, it looks like a rock, right?

So, I tried out a combination of Smack Down as the fast move and Stone Edge as the charged move. It hit pretty hard, and it was super effective against Flying, Bug, Fire, and Ice types. I was wrecking those poor Pidgeys and Charizards in gyms! But then I ran into some Water and Grass types, and… well, it wasn’t pretty. My Rhyperior was getting taken down way too fast.
Back to the drawing board! I realized I needed more coverage. I swapped out Stone Edge for Earthquake. Now I had a Ground-type charged move to deal with those pesky Electric, Fire, Poison, Rock, and Steel types. This was definitely better! I was winning more battles, but I still felt like something was missing.
The Perfect Combo (For Me!)
Then it hit me: I needed to think about both offense and defense. I was so focused on super-effective hits that I forgot about resisting damage. I did some more experimenting and finally landed on what, for me, is the perfect Rhyperior moveset:
- Fast Move: Mud-Slap (Ground)
- Charged Move: Rock Wrecker (Rock) (Community Day exclusive move)
Alternatively:
- Fast Move: Smack Down (Rock)
- Charged Move: Rock Wrecker (Rock)
Hear me out on this. Mud-Slap might not do as much raw damage as Smack Down, but it generates energy faster. And Rock Wrecker, if get it, is just INSANE. It hits like an absolute truck. So, I can spam those Rock Wreckers much quicker, and that’s what really matters.
Also, with Mud-Slap, I have that Ground-type coverage for fast moves, making my Rhyperior more versatile. If I don’t have acess to Rock Wrecker, Stone Edge is my best choice.
So, there you have it! That’s my personal journey to finding the best moveset for Rhyperior in Pokémon Go. Remember, this is just what worked for me. You might find something different that suits your playstyle better. The key is to experiment, have fun, and keep battling!
