Alright, guys, let’s dive into my journey figuring out this Shadow Priest rotation in Season of Discovery. I’ve been messing around with different builds and strategies, and I wanna share what I’ve learned so far. It’s been a bit of a bumpy ride, I’m not gonna lie.
Getting Started: The Basics
First things first, I made sure I had the right runes. That’s key. I’m rocking with:

- Chest: Void Plague (obviously).
- Gloves: Shadow Word: Death.
- Legs: Mind Spike
With the right runes in I start to explore the gameplay.
My Initial Attempts: Ouch!
My first few attempts were… rough. I kept running out of mana, like, immediately. I was trying to keep all my DoTs up all the time – Void Plague, Shadow Word: Pain, the works. Plus, I thought I could squeeze in some Mind Blasts. Nope. Big mistake. I was dry as a desert after, like, two pulls. I was chugging mana potions like they were going out of style, and even that wasn’t enough.
Experimentation Time: Finding a Rhythm
So, back to the drawing board. I started playing around with different orders of spells. I watched some videos, read some guides (most of which were pretty confusing, to be honest), and just kept practicing. Slowly, I started to see what worked and what definitely didn’t.
Here is how I start to practice the skill rotation
- Started a fight: I usually kick things off with Shadow Word: Pain, Just to get that initial damage ticking.
- Applied Void Plague: This is our bread and butter, so get it up ASAP.
- Cast Mind Spike: This is where I was going wrong before. I used to think I needed more Mind Spike. Now, I just fit 2~3 in when I can, and only when I have enough mana.
- Used Shadow Word: Death: If the mob is getting low, I use this as a finisher. It hits hard, so it’s great for that last bit of health.
And if my mana is not enough, I will use wand attack.
The “Aha!” Moment: Mana Management
The biggest breakthrough for me was realizing I needed to chill out on the Mind Blast. Seriously. It drains mana way too fast, especially early on. Instead, I focused on keeping my DoTs up (Void Plague and Shadow Word: Pain), and using my wand. Yes, my wand. It might not seem glamorous, but it does decent damage, and it doesn’t cost any mana!
My Current Rotation (Work in Progress!)
So, here’s what I’m doing now. It’s not perfect, but it’s working way better than my early attempts:
This is still a learning process for me, but I’m feeling a lot better about it now. I’m not topping any DPS meters, but I’m also not constantly out of mana and dying. And, hey, that’s a win in my book!
Remember, just keep practicing. If you mess up, who cares? Learn from it and try again. That’s how you get * Luck and Happy Gaming!
