Okay, so this morning I was all hyped up to jump into some Elder Scrolls Online. You know, get my daily crafting writs done, maybe run a dungeon or two. But guess what? The game was totally down!
First thing I did was try to log in, obviously. Got hit with some error message. Can’t even remember exactly what it said, something about not being able to connect to the servers. My initial thought? “Oh great, is my internet acting up again?”

Troubleshooting Time
So, I started with the usual troubleshooting steps.
- Checked my internet connection: Did a speed test, everything looked normal there. Streamed a quick video, no problems. Okay, so it’s probably not my internet.
- Restarted my computer: Figured, why not? Sometimes that magically fixes things, right? Nope, still couldn’t connect after the reboot.
- Checked the Official Forums: This is where I usually go to see if it’s a widespread issue. Boom! Tons of people were posting about the servers being down. Relief! It wasn’t just me.
- Looked at Twitter(or X? Whatever.): Always check to see the latest information about gaming issue.
Turned out it was a scheduled maintenance, but they had some problems, and it was taking way longer than they initially announced. I saw some posts on the forums about people complaining, but hey, what can you do? These things happen.
Ended up waiting, checking the forums and playing some off-line games. A couple of hours later, I saw a post saying the servers were back up. Tried logging in again, and… success! Finally, I could get back to Tamriel.
So yeah, that’s the story of my morning. A little frustrating, but at least I figured it out. And good reminder to check the official channels before tearing my hair out troubleshooting my own setup.
