Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get into gardening, right? And I kept seeing these gorgeous, fluffy “green mums” all over my neighbor’s yard. I finally decided, “I gotta try this!”
First, I went to the local garden center. Just wandered around, feeling totally lost. I mean, there are SO many plants! Finally, I found a section with mums, but they had all sorts of colors. I specifically wanted that vibrant green, so I asked one of the workers.

Turns out, finding the exact shade of green I wanted was trickier than I thought. The guy showed me a few options, some were more lime green, others were kinda dull. Finally, we found a batch that looked pretty close. They were still buds, not fully bloomed, so I was taking a bit of a gamble, hoping they’d open up to the right color.
Planting Time!
- I dug a hole in my garden bed, a bit bigger than the pot the mums came in.
- I mixed in some of that compost stuff – you know, to make the soil all healthy.
- Then, I carefully took the mums out of their plastic container and placed gently into the hole.
- I filled the hole back up with dirt, making sure to pat it down gently around the base of the plant.
- Finally, I watered them really well.
I kept watering them every other day, or whenever the soil felt dry. The waiting game was the hardest part! I kept checking them, like, every few hours, hoping to see those green blooms.
And guess what? After about a week, they started to open up! And they were…mostly green! There’s a little bit of variation in the shade, some are a bit lighter, some a bit darker, but overall, I’m super happy with how they turned out. My garden finally has a little pop of that awesome green I was going for. Success!
