So I’ve been diving deep into Pokemon Go lately, trying to figure out which Pokemon are worth the stardust and candy. I kept seeing Honchkrow pop up in discussions, so I decided to do a little experiment of my own.
First, I caught a bunch of Murkrow. I mean, a LOT. I spent a good few days just tapping on every single one I saw, hoarding candy like a squirrel before winter. It took a while, but hey, that’s part of the grind, right?

Then came the Sinnoh Stone situation. You need one of those bad boys to evolve Murkrow into Honchkrow. Luckily, I had a few saved up from previous research tasks and battles. If you’re short on Sinnoh Stones, focus on those tasks and Team Go Rocket battles – they’re your best bet.
The Evolution
Once I had enough candy and a Sinnoh Stone, I picked my highest IV Murkrow (that’s Individual Values, for the newbies – basically, its potential stats). I hit that evolve button and watched the magic happen. Boom! Honchkrow.
Putting it to the Test
Now for the real question: is it any good? I started using Honchkrow in raids and battles. I slapped on some good moves – Snarl and Sky Attack seemed to be a popular combo. I quickly put it through its paces and tested various movesets, documenting the differences.
- Against Psychic-types: Honchkrow, with its Dark typing, absolutely shreds through them. This is where it really shines.
- Against Ghost-types: Same deal. Super effective damage.
- In PvP: It’s a bit of a glass cannon. It can dish out a lot of damage, but it can’t take much in return. You gotta be strategic.
My Conclusion?
So, after all that catching, evolving, and battling, is Honchkrow good in Pokemon Go? I’d say yes, but with caveats. It’s a fantastic attacker against certain types, making it a valuable addition to your raid team. But, you’ve got to be aware of its weaknesses. Don’t expect it to tank hits. It’s more of a “hit hard and fast” kind of Pokemon. I will continue to use it.
For me, the experience was worth it. I am going to keep trying out other scenarios, maybe some more PvP battles, to see if I can refine my strategy.
