Okay, so I’ve been grinding Ultimate Team like crazy, and the Team of the Year (TOTY) promo is always the highlight, right? This year, I was dead set on getting that Harry Kane card. His stats looked absolutely insane, and I just knew he’d be a game-changer for my squad.
First thing I did was assess my resources. I checked my coin balance, looked at my tradeable players, and scanned through my club for any high-rated fodder I could use in Squad Building Challenges (SBCs). I figured I’d need a mix of coins and players to get him, one way or another.
My Grind Begins
- Played a ton of games. Weekend League, Division Rivals, Squad Battles – you name it, I was playing it. The more games I played, the more packs I earned, and the more coins I racked up. It was exhausting, but felt necessary.
- Opened every pack. Even the basic bronze and silver ones! You never know what you might pull, and every little bit helps. Sometimes you’ll get the fodder, or the player you want, it’s luck!
- Kept an eye on the transfer market. I was constantly checking prices, trying to snipe players for cheap and sell them for a profit. It’s a bit of a time sink, but it can be a really effective way to build up your coin balance.
- Completed as many SBCs as I could. There were tons of upgrade SBCs and player SBCs during TOTY, and I did my best to complete the ones that offered good value. Sometimes I got lucky and pulled something decent, other times it was just more fodder for future SBCs.
Honestly, the first few days were rough. I was pulling nothing of value, and my coin balance was slowly but surely growing to a point where I thought buying him was viable. I was starting to get a bit discouraged, and I was so close to giving up.
Then… It finally happened.
I threw some fodder in the 85+ double player pick. Prayed to the FIFA gods. And boom. There he was. Harry Kane. TOTY. I was jumping up from the sofa, not caring what my wife thought of me. It was a glorious moment.
It was such a relief to finally get him. All that grinding, all that time spent playing games and completing SBCs, it all paid off. My foddor was gone, but I had the card I wanted!
My advice?
If you’re going for a big card like TOTY Kane, be prepared to put in the work. Play lots of games, complete SBCs, work the transfer market, and don’t give up. It might take some time, but eventually, you’ll get there. And when you do, it’ll feel amazing.
