Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with some Alola Electric-type Pokémon. You know, those cool critters from the Sun and Moon games? I’ve always been a fan of Electric types, and the Alola region has some unique ones.
Getting Started
First, I fired up my 3DS and booted up Pokémon Ultra Moon. Gotta have the right game, right? I made sure my team had an open slot because I wasn’t sure what I’d end up catching or using.

Finding My Electric Friends
- I flew over to Akala Island. I figured that was a good place to start since there are a bunch of areas with wild Pokémon.
- I wandered around in the tall grass, specifically around the areas with electrical currents like those near the Paniola Ranch.
- I had some repels with me.
The Encounters
Man, it took a while! I ran into a bunch of non-Electric types at first. Finally, I got my first encounter: a Grubbin! Not Electric yet, but it evolves into Charjabug, which is Bug/Electric, and then Vikavolt, which is Bug/Electric and pretty awesome.
Next up, I found a Togedemaru. This little guy is Electric/Steel, and it’s super cute. I threw a Quick Ball and caught it right away.
I decided to level up my Grubbin a bit, and it evolved into Charjabug no problem. Then, I took it to the special magnetic field in the Vast Poni Canyon, and boom! It evolved into Vikavolt. So cool!
Playing Around
After getting my Electric-type buddies, I spent some time just battling with them. I tested out different moves and tried some double battles. It’s always fun to see how different Pokémon work together. I’ve gotta say, Alolan Electric types are pretty powerful.
My Thoughts
Overall, it was a fun day of Pokémon hunting. I’m always amazed by the variety of creatures you can find in these games. The Alola region’s Electric types are definitely unique, and I’m glad I took the time to explore them.
