Okay, so I’ve been getting seriously into F1 23 lately, and one thing that’s been bugging me is finding the right AI difficulty. I mean, I want a challenge, but I don’t want to get smoked every race, you know?
So, I started messing around, trying to find a sweet spot. I’d bump it up a few notches, get totally destroyed, then dial it back down, and it’d be way too easy. It was a frustrating cycle!

Then I stumbled upon something called an “AI difficulty calculator.” I was like, “What’s this now?” Turns out, there are these tools out there that help you figure out the perfect AI level based on your lap times.
Digging into the Calculator
This “F1Laps difficulty calculator” seemed pretty straightforward. Basically, I needed to do some time trial laps, input my times, and it would spit out a recommended AI difficulty. Sounded simple enough, right?
I spent a good chunk of time just hot-lapping, trying to get consistent times. That was actually kind of fun in itself, just trying to beat my own records.
- First step:Set some times.
- Second step:Find a good calculator.
- Third step:Try it out.
After, I put my lap times into the calculator, and boom – it gave me a number. I plugged that difficulty setting into the game, and jumped into a race.
Putting It to the Test
Honestly, it was a pretty big difference! The AI felt much more competitive, but not in an unfair way. I was actually battling for position, having to think about my overtakes, and defend properly. It felt way more engaging than before.
I’m still tweaking things here and there, because, you know, every track is different, and maybe my skills are (hopefully!) improving. But using this calculator thing as a starting point has been a total game-changer. My races are way more fun, and I feel like I’m actually getting better at the game because I’m being pushed in a realistic way.
So, yeah, if you’re struggling to find the right AI difficulty in F1 23, I’d definitely recommend looking into one of these calculators. It might just make your racing experience a whole lot better!
