Alright, guys, so I’ve been diving deep into the world of competitive Pokemon lately, and I gotta say, Gothitelle has really caught my eye. It’s not your typical powerhouse, but with the right setup, this Psychic-type can be a real menace. I spent a good chunk of yesterday experimenting, and I think I’ve cracked the code for a pretty solid moveset.
My Gothitelle Journey Begins
First, I bred a bunch of Gothitas, aiming for one with a Calm nature (+Special Defense, -Attack). Took a while, but finally got a decent one. Then came the EV training – maxing out HP and Special Defense was my priority. I wanted this thing to be a bulky special wall.

The Moveset Experimentation
This is where things got interesting. I knew I wanted a combination of support and offense. Here’s what I went through:
- Psychic: A no-brainer. STAB (Same-Type Attack Bonus) Psychic move, gotta have it. Tried Psyshock too, but I found Psychic to be more consistent overall.
- Shadow Ball: Good coverage move, hits other Psychic-types and Ghosts that might try to switch in.
- Thunderbolt: At First,I think it is a good choice,It can hit some fly-type. But when I tried,I found Gothitelle do not have a high *,so I give up.
- Calm Mind: This is key. Boosts Gothitelle’s Special Attack and Special Defense, making it even harder to take down and increasing its damage output.
- Rest: For recovery, obviously. Gotta keep Gothitelle healthy.
- Sleep Talk: Works well with Rest, lets you potentially attack while sleeping off the damage.
- Protect: To block the damage.
- Trick Room:Got idea from a friend,it can make Gothitelle has a high speed.
Putting It All Together: The Final Moveset
After a bunch of battles, tweaking, and re-tweaking, here’s the moveset I settled on:
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Calm Mind
- Trick Room
I use Trick Room change the speed, then Calm Mind get some buffs, after that, Psychic and Shadow Ball to hit the enemy, and it worked! That is really amazing!
It’s not a one-size-fits-all solution, of course. You gotta adapt to your opponent’s team. But this setup has been working wonders for me. Give it a shot and let me know what you think! I’m always open to suggestions and new strategies.
