Okay, so I wanted to beef up my Nidoking in Pokémon Go, you know, make him a real powerhouse. I’d heard all sorts of things about the “best” moveset, so I figured I’d do some digging and testing myself. Here’s how it went down:
First, I checked out a few websites, just to get a general idea. Most of them were saying Poison Jab and Earthquake were the way to go. Something about “highest total DPS” and being good for both Gyms and PVP battles. Seemed pretty straightforward.

My Testing in Gym Battles
So, I already had a Nidoking with Poison Jab, which was cool. I then used a bunch of TMs until he learned Earthquake, tossed him into some Gym battles, and… wow. The damage output was noticeably better than my other Nidokings! Those Rock and Steel types that used to give my other Pokémon trouble? Nidoking just melted through them. The “Same Type Attack Bonus” thing (where the moves get a damage boost because they match the Pokémon’s type) seemed to really make a difference.
- Poison Jab: Really fast.
- Earthquake: Hits like an absolute truck.
My Testing in PVP Battles
Next, I jumped into some PVP battles. I’m not, like, a super competitive player or anything, I have never won a single PVP battle. However, This Nidoking performed really well. Poison Jab charged up Earthquake pretty quickly, and when that big ground move landed, it often took out a big chunk of the opponent’s health, sometimes, even one-shotting them!
My Conclusion
My conclusion is you should change your Nidoking’s moves to Poison Jab and Earthquake, It’s simple. After doing all this, I’m pretty convinced. If you want a Nidoking that can dish out some serious damage, Poison Jab and Earthquake are the way to go. This moveset may let you win your first PVP battle.
