Okay, so I’ve been meaning to put together a top laner tier list for a while now, and today I finally got around to doing it. It was, uh, a bit more involved than I initially thought it would be, but hey, that’s how it goes, right?
Getting Started – The Brain Dump
First things first, I needed to, like, actually decide which champions I was even gonna consider. So, I just opened up a blank document and started listing every top laner I could think of. I played a bunch of games myself to refresh on some, others I know them well. I was writing, deleting, then writing again, It was a mess at first.

Sorting Through the Chaos – Building the Tiers
Next, I decided how many tiers I should have. Finally, decided five tiers are enough, S, A, B, C, and D. I put some of the most powerful top laners I played at S. Some were a little bit weaker at A and B. C and D are for those I don’t recommend picking.
- S-Tier: The absolute beasts. The ones that, if played right, can carry games almost single-handedly.
- A-Tier: Really strong picks. Great in most situations, maybe just a slight notch below the S-tiers.
- B-Tier: Solid, reliable champions. They work well, but might have some clear weaknesses or counters.
- C-Tier: Situational picks. They can work, but they’re either really niche or just not in a great spot right now.
- D-Tier: I don’t recommend them.
Playing The Top Laner
I spent most of the day playing a few games with each champion, and make note of the key factors of them. After these, I could rank each top laner more precisely. I found that some champions could be placed on different tiers depending on different situations.
The Final Result (For Now!)
And…that’s pretty much it! It’s still a work in progress, and I’ll probably tweak it as new patches, and after playing more games. I was exhausted after finishing it. It’s not perfect, but it’s a good starting point, I think.
