Okay, so I wanted to get better at Mortal Kombat 11. I mean, who doesn’t want to pull off those sick Fatalities, right? So, I decided to dive deep into learning the “mk11 moves.” I’m no pro, but I figured I could at least improve my game.
Getting Started
First thing I did was fire up the game. Obvious, I know. I went straight into the tutorial mode. Gotta start with the basics, even though I’d played before. It was a good refresher on the basic punches, kicks, and blocks. I spent a good hour just running through the tutorial, making sure I had the fundamentals down solid.

Practice Makes Perfect (Sort Of)
Next, I picked a character I liked – Scorpion. Classic choice, I know. I went into the “Practice” mode. This is where the real work began. I pulled up the move list on my phone (super handy!). I started with the simple stuff, like his spear move ( “Get over here!”). It’s pretty straightforward: Back, Forward, Front Punch.
I must have done that spear move a hundred times. Seriously. I kept messing up the timing at first, but slowly, I started getting it consistently. Muscle memory is a real thing, people!
Combo Time
Once I felt comfortable with the special moves, I started trying to string them together into combos. This is where things got tricky. The timing is super important. You have to input the next move at just the right moment, or the combo drops. Fail!
I looked up some basic Scorpion combos online, there’s always good stuff when i searched the net. and I found one that looked doable: a jump-in punch, followed by a standing combo, and finishing with the spear. I practiced it over and over and over. It took a while, but eventually, I could pull it off… sometimes.
- Jump in Punch: You gotta time this right so it hits as you land.
- Standing Combo: This was usually a series of punches and kicks. The button sequence varied.
- Spear Finish: Back, Forward, Front Punch. Classic!
Trying It Out for Real
After a few hours in Practice mode, I felt brave enough to try some online matches. Let’s just say… it was a humbling experience. I got my butt kicked. A lot. But, every now and then, I’d manage to pull off a combo I’d practiced, and it felt awesome! Even if I still lost the match, those little victories kept me going.
Still Learning
I’m still not great at MK11, not by a long shot. But I’m definitely better than I was. I can actually pull off some moves and combos now, which is a huge improvement. It just goes to show that practice, even if it’s just for a few hours, can really make a difference. I’m still gonna keep at it, though. Maybe one day I’ll actually be good! Now I just need to find a good character, that can do some easy moves.
