Okay, so I’ve been having some serious audio issues with Darktide lately. It’s been driving me nuts! Sometimes the sound would completely cut out, other times it would be all crackly and distorted. It made playing the game a real pain, you know?
So, I started digging around to fix this mess. Here’s what I did:

Troubleshooting Steps
- Checked the Basics: First, I made sure my headphones were plugged in properly and the volume was up. Duh, right? But, you gotta start with the obvious stuff.
- Updated Drivers: I went to my sound card manufacturer’s website and downloaded the latest drivers. Turns out, mine were a bit outdated. I installed the new ones and rebooted my PC.
- Verified Game Files: In Steam, I right-clicked on Darktide, went to “Properties,” then “Local Files,” and clicked “Verify integrity of game files.” This checks if any game files are corrupted and fixes them.
- In-Game Settings Tweaking: Inside Darktide, I messed around with the audio settings. I lowered the master volume a bit and played with the different output options (like “Headphones” or “Stereo”).
- Windows Sound Settings:I also checked it with Windows Sound settings. Right-click the small speaker at right-bottom corner and go to “Sound Settings”. Go to advanced option to make sure the default format is setuped to 16 bit, 48000 HZ(DVD Quality).
After trying all of that, I finally got it sorted! Turns out, it was a combination of outdated drivers and some weird in-game setting. Now the audio is crystal clear, and I can hear those nasty Poxwalkers sneaking up on me. Much better!
Hope this helps anyone else struggling with Darktide’s sound. It’s a great game, but those audio glitches were seriously ruining the experience. Good luck, and happy purging!
