Alright, so I’ve been digging into Pokemon Go again lately, trying to optimize my battle teams, and it got me thinking about Glalie and Froslass. They’re both Ice types that evolve from Snorunt, but which one is actually better in battles? I decided to put them to the test and see for myself.
First, I grabbed a bunch of Snorunts. I already had a few, but I needed more candies to evolve them, you know how it is. So, I went out hunting, used Pinap Berries to double the candy, and finally got enough to evolve a couple of them.

Then came the tricky part – deciding which ones to evolve into Glalie and which into Froslass. I know Froslass needs a Sinnoh Stone, and luckily, I had a couple saved up. I picked a female Snorunt with decent stats and used the Sinnoh Stone to evolve it into Froslass. For Glalie, I just needed the candy, so I evolved a male Snorunt with good stats as well.
Now, it was time to see how they performed. I started with some raids. Glalie, with its Ice Fang and Avalanche, did okay, but it felt a bit slow. Froslass, on the other hand, with Powder Snow and Avalanche, seemed to charge up its moves much faster. It felt like I was hitting more frequently, which is always a good thing.
Next, I took them to some PvP battles. This is where Froslass really shined. Its Ghost typing gives it some interesting advantages, making it resistant to Fighting and Normal-type attacks. Glalie, being a pure Ice type, didn’t have that extra edge. I won more battles with Froslass, hands down.
- Powering Up: I also powered up both Pokemon to see their max potential. It took a ton of Stardust and candies, but I wanted to give them a fair shot. Even fully powered up, Froslass still felt more versatile.
- Move Sets: I played around with different move sets using TMs. I eventually settled on Powder Snow and Avalanche for Froslass and Ice Fang and Avalanche for Glalie. These seemed to be the best combinations for my play style.
After all this experimenting, here’s my take: Froslass is the better choice in most situations. Its Ghost typing and faster move charging give it a real advantage. Glalie is still decent, but it’s just not as well-rounded. But of course, it also depends on what you need, right? If you absolutely need a pure Ice type, maybe Glalie is your guy, but for me, Froslass is the clear winner.
So, that’s my little Pokemon Go experiment. Maybe you’ve had different experiences, and that’s cool! It’s all about finding what works best for you and your team. Happy hunting, trainers!
