Alright, so I’ve been grinding away in Pokemon Go, trying to figure out the best way to use Scyther. You know, that green bug-thing with the sickles for arms? Yeah, that guy. I wanted to see what kind of damage I could do with him, and trust me, it took a bit of trial and error.
Getting Started
First off, I caught a bunch of Scythers. I wanted a good one, you know, with high IVs and all that jazz. I used those pinap berries like they were going out of style, trying to stock up on Scyther candy. It was a grind, no doubt about it. I spent hours walking around, raiding whenever I saw one. My legs were definitely feeling it.

Experimenting with Moves
Next up, I started playing around with the movesets. I checked out some stuff online, but honestly, it was all over the place. So, I just decided to experiment myself. I used a bunch of TMs – both Fast and Charged – trying out different combinations.
- I tried Fury Cutter first, since it seemed pretty common. It was okay, but not exactly blowing me away.
- Then I switched to Air Slash. A little better for energy gain, but still not quite what I was looking for.
- Finally, I landed on Bullet Punch. Yeah, I know it’s a Steel-type move on a Bug/Flying Pokemon, but hear me out. It charges up those Charged Moves real fast.
Finding the Right Charged Move
For the Charged Moves, that’s where things got interesting. I tested out a few:
- Night Slash? Decent damage, but I felt like I could do better.
- X-Scissor? It was good. I kept it as a second move.
- Aerial Ace? Meh, not really worth it in my opinion.
After a lot of battles, I figured out that the best combo for me was Bullet Punch and X-Scissor. It gave me a good balance of speed and power.
Putting it to the Test
With my ideal moveset locked in, I started taking Scyther into raids and gyms. I wanted to see how he stacked up against different types of Pokemon. And let me tell you, he was holding his own! That fast energy gain from Bullet Punch let me fire off X-Scissor like crazy. It was actually pretty fun to watch.
The Verdict
So, after all that grinding and experimenting, what’s the verdict? Well, Scyther’s not going to be topping any DPS charts. But if you get one with good stats and the right moves, he can definitely be a fun and effective Pokemon to use. Just don’t expect him to solo any legendary raids or anything. He’s more of a fun, niche pick. And that’s my story on trying to make Scyther the best he can be in Pokemon Go. Hope you found it helpful! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got more Pokemon to catch.
