Okay, so I’ve been messing around with Apex Legends lately, and something weird caught my eye – these things called “orientation matches.” Now, I consider myself a pretty seasoned gamer, but I had no clue what these were, so I decided to do some digging.
Turns out, these orientation matches are basically bot lobbies for newbies. Yeah, you heard that right – bots! When you first start playing Apex, the game throws you into these matches to get you acquainted with the basics before tossing you to the wolves in the regular battle royale mode.

So, here’s the kicker: I wanted to find out exactly how many of these bot matches you gotta play before you can jump into the real deal. I fired up the game, created a fresh account, and started grinding.
First match in, and it was pretty obvious these weren’t real players. They were moving kinda clunky, their aim was all over the place, and they didn’t really seem to know what they were doing. Easy win for me, but not exactly satisfying. The lobby was filled with bots, I felt like a sheep in wolf’s clothing, and it felt like I was bullying them.

First Stage
I played a few more, and it was the same story. Bots, bots, and more bots. I even started messing around, trying out different legends and weapons, just to see what would happen. Still, easy wins.

Second Stage
But then, after about five or six matches, something changed. I started noticing some players who actually seemed like they knew what they were doing. They were moving more strategically, their aim was better, and they were actually putting up a fight. Finally, some real competition!

Third Stage
I kept playing, and the mix of bots and real players seemed to even out. It wasn’t all bots anymore, but it wasn’t all hardcore gamers either. It was a good balance, actually – a nice way to ease into the game without getting totally stomped.
Now, here’s where it gets tricky. The game doesn’t actually tell you how many of these orientation matches you need to play. It’s a total mystery! But from my experience, it seems like you gotta either win one match or place in the top five a few times to “graduate” to the regular matches.
So, to all you Apex newbies out there, don’t be discouraged by these bot matches. They’re just there to help you get your feet wet. And to all you experienced players, if you ever see someone in your game who seems a little lost, cut them some slack – they might just be fresh out of orientation!
I should also mention that all of these orientation matches take place on King’s Canyon, which is weird because it’s not even in the current map rotation. And get this – even though it says there are 20 trios in each match, most of them are actually AI bots, like 16 out of 20, from my rough estimate. It’s like they’re trying to make you feel good about yourself before throwing you to the sharks.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure into the world of Apex Legends orientation matches. Hope you found it somewhat interesting or at least a little bit entertaining. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go get wrecked by some real players in the regular matches. Wish me luck!
