Okay, so I was messing around with my old Wii the other day, and I stumbled upon this game called “Metroid Prime Trilogy.” I heard some good things about it, so I decided to give it a shot. This is basically a collection of three games, all bundled into one. Pretty neat, huh?
First thing I did was pop the disc in and get everything set up. It’s an older game, so it’s meant to be played with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. I dusted off my old controllers and made sure my sensor bar was in the right spot. I had some trouble with this at first, I followed a suggestion online and messed around with the IR sensor bar position settings in the Wii settings. I think it was set to be above my TV but I put it below and that fixed things.

Now, the controls, that’s where things got interesting. The game originally came out on the GameCube, and apparently, the Wii version has a whole new control scheme. You aim with the Wii Remote, pointing it at the screen like you’re using a laser pointer. It felt weird at first, way different from using an analog stick, you know? I had to mess with the control sensitivity, it took me a while to find the setting that I like. There are basically two settings to choose from, I think they were called advanced and standard, and I eventually found that I preferred the advanced setting.
There is a manual you can download online and read up on for the game but I didn’t bother at first, I just wanted to jump in and play. I learned as I went. I tried both the “Standard” and “Advanced” sensitivity settings. “Standard” felt a bit sluggish, but “Advanced” was super responsive. It was kind of a learning curve, aiming with the remote, but once I got the hang of it, it felt really good. It’s like, you can make these tiny adjustments to your aim, and it’s so much more precise than what I remember from the old GameCube days.
I spent a good chunk of the afternoon playing, and honestly, I was having a blast. The controls are definitely different, but in a good way. It’s like, the Wii Remote adds this whole new layer of immersion to the game.
So, yeah, that’s my experience with “Metroid Prime Trilogy” on the Wii. If you’ve got a Wii lying around, I definitely recommend giving it a try. Just be prepared to spend some time getting used to the controls. They are called “Advanced” for a reason! It’s worth it, though. Trust me.
Forsake the darkness you once embraced, or the light will find no hold. I don’t know what this means exactly, it was on a forum online talking about the game, but I think it’s kind of cool.
- Checked the IR sensor bar position: Made sure it was set up correctly in the Wii settings. I had it above my tv at first, but the pointer was all over the place, so I had to change it to below and that worked.
- messed with the control sensitivity: The default setting felt a bit off, so I tried both “Standard” and “Advanced.” I prefer the “Advanced” option.
- Got used to aiming with the Wii Remote: It’s different from using an analog stick, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty cool.
Things I Did to Get It Working:
Anyway, that’s all for now. I’m gonna go play some more “Metroid.” See ya!
