Okay, so, I wanted to try this “hyper roll” thing in TFT ’cause I kept seeing it pop up. Honestly, all the guides I found online were kinda basic, not really giving me the full picture. So, I just jumped in and figured it out myself. Here’s how it went down for me.
First off, hyper rolling, from what I gathered, is just rolling down your gold like crazy early in the game. The goal is to get a bunch of low-cost units upgraded fast. Sounds simple enough, right?

I started the game, saved up my gold like a good little player during the first few rounds. I didn’t buy any units except the ones I needed. No leveling up either. Just hoarding that gold.
Then, after the first PVE stages, that is stage 2, I started rolling down. I spent all my gold, every single round, looking for those specific one-cost units I wanted to upgrade. My board was a mess, I’m not gonna lie. A bunch of one-star units, some two-stars if I was lucky. But I kept rolling down. I did this till stage 3.
My First Try
- Stage 1: Saved gold, bought only necessary units.
- Stage 2: Started hyper rolling after the Krugs round.
- Stage 3: Continued rolling, aiming for three-star one-cost units.
It felt kinda wrong, to be honest, spending all that gold so early. But I stuck to the plan. I did manage to get a couple of three-star units, which was pretty cool. They were surprisingly strong, even against players who were higher level than me. It was a bit exciting seeing those little guys punch above their weight.
But here’s the thing, while those three-star units were strong early on, they started to fall off later in the game. I guess that’s the downside. My economy was also pretty messed up ’cause I spent all my gold early. So I had to play catch-up for the rest of the game.
The Aftermath
- Got some three-star units early.
- They were strong initially but fell off later.
- My economy was wrecked.
In the end, I didn’t win that game, but I didn’t come last either. It was a learning experience, for sure. I realized that hyper rolling can be strong if you get lucky with your rolls, but it’s also super risky. You gotta know when to stop rolling and start building your economy back up.
I tried it a few more times after that, experimenting with different units and strategies. It’s not something I’d do every game, but it’s a fun little strategy to try out when you’re feeling adventurous. Just be prepared to either win big or lose spectacularly. That’s the way she goes, right?
