Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this game, right? And there’s this Pokemon, Rapidash, that I really wanted to use. I mean, it’s a fire horse, how cool is that? But I was getting smoked in battles. Turns out, just having a cool-looking Pokemon isn’t enough. You gotta have the right moves, man.
So, I started digging around, trying to figure out the best moveset for this fiery beast. First thing I did was just throw some random moves on it, like any newbie would. Flamethrower, because, duh, it’s a fire type. Then I added some other stuff like Solar Beam, just to have some coverage. That didn’t work out too well.
My Initial Mess-Up

Yeah, that was a disaster. I got wrecked by water types, rock types, you name it. I mean, Solar Beam takes two turns to charge, and by then, Rapidash was usually toast. Literally.
Then I started reading some forums and watching some videos. People were talking about all these fancy terms like “STAB” and “coverage” and “EV training.” It was all gibberish to me at first. But I kept at it, trying to learn what all this stuff meant.
The Real Deal
Turns out, “STAB” means Same Type Attack Bonus. Basically, if your Pokemon uses a move that’s the same type as it is, it gets a damage boost. So for Rapidash, that means fire moves get extra oomph. Good to know.
After a lot of trial and error, and I mean A LOT, I finally figured out a moveset that works pretty well:
- Flare Blitz: This is a must-have. It’s a super strong fire move, and it gets that STAB bonus. Sure, it does some recoil damage, but it’s worth it.
- Wild Charge: It’s electric, so it helps deal with those pesky water types. Does recoil as well, but hey, gotta risk it for the biscuit.
- High Horsepower: a good ground type move that help against rock type, which can do double damage against fire type.
- Drill Run: A critical hit will land more easily, and it’s a ground type attack as well.
With this setup, I actually started winning some battles. It’s not perfect, but it’s way better than what I had before. I still have a lot to learn about this game, but at least now I feel like I’m not just throwing my Pokemon out there to get slaughtered. It’s been a grind, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
