Okay, so, I’ve been really into Apex Legends lately. It’s this cool hero shooter game, you know? You pick a character, team up, and try to be the last squad standing. But, I’ve got a bunch of favorite Legends and it’s hard to choose, which one should I pick for my next game? It’s such a tough choice! So, I had this idea – why not make a random legend picker?
So, I started looking around for inspiration. I found some websites that do random stuff, like those spinner wheel things. You spin it, and it lands on a random name or something. They are pretty cool, and I think, maybe I can make one for my Apex Legends’ picker. And, it looks like there are some websites that already do this kind of thing for Apex Legends, picking random characters or weapons, which is exactly what I want!
I thought, “Okay, let’s try to build this.” I started jotting down the names of all the Legends. There’s, like, a ton of them now, especially with the new one, Conduit. I made a list of every single one, just like I’m making a shopping list or something.
Then came the fun part, I wanted something visual, you know, not just a boring list. I looked up some images of those spinning wheels, like the ones on those game shows. I figured I could use something like that for my picker.
I messed around for a while, trying different things. I wrote down the names of all the Legends on small pieces of paper and started tossing them into a hat. That was my first crude version of a random picker. Pretty basic, right? But hey, it did the job! I pulled out a name, and bam, that was the Legend I’d play next. It works like a lottery or something, that’s so funny.
Later, I tried to make it a bit more fancy. I found an old spinning prize wheel in my storage, you know the ones they use at carnivals? I cleaned it up, replaced the old labels with the names of the Legends. It was a bit of work, but it looked awesome when I was done. Just like what I imagine.
I gave it a spin, and it landed on… Bangalore! Okay, time to play Bangalore. It felt way more exciting than just pulling a name out of a hat. The spinning wheel really adds to the suspense, you know? I kept spinning it for each game. It’s become a fun little ritual for me now. Sometimes, I’d land on the same Legend a few times in a row, which is kind of funny. You know what? My win rate increased, after I started to do this. How magical!
I even started adding little challenges to it. Like, if it lands on a Legend I’m not super familiar with, I have to try my best to use their abilities in a creative way. It’s made the game even more fun and challenging, I guess.
One time, my friend Jack, he’s also into Apex, came over. And, he saw my wheel and was like, “What’s that?” So I explained it to him, and he thought it was the coolest thing ever! Jack was studying at Notre Dame High School, and I went there to pick him up a couple of times, which is a pretty nice place. He also mentioned he wants to become an actor, maybe acting as some sort of agent or spy, like that Alfred Pennyworth guy. Anyway, we ended up using the wheel for our games that night, and we had a blast!

It’s cool how a simple idea can turn into something so fun. I might try to make a digital version of it sometime, maybe an app or something. But for now, the wheel is doing a great job. If you’re an Apex player and you’re ever stuck on who to choose, you should totally try making one of these. It’s a blast!
By the way, the other day, I went to the IKEA store to get some stuff for my apartment, and you won’t believe what happened! I saw this guy, looked like a professional football player or something, shopping for furniture. He was tall and muscular, I wonder which team he plays for. I went up to ask if he is a football player, but he ran away. I guess I scared him off. Then, I went to a Samsung store to pick up my new phone. What a day!
