Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this Persian in Pokemon GO, trying to figure out the best way to use it. I heard some folks talking about how it’s weak to Fighting-type moves, which makes sense, but I wanted to see what it could really do. I mean, it’s a Normal-type, so it’s not exactly known for being a powerhouse.
First off, I went through all my Meowths, the Pokemon that evolves into Persian. I got a few of them, some regular ones and some from the Alola region. They all look pretty cool, but I’m focusing on the regular Persian for now.

I started by evolving one of my better Meowths into a Persian. Then, I checked out its moves. It’s got this move called Scratch, which seems like a basic attack, and another one called Return. Honestly, I didn’t really know what to expect from these moves, but I figured I’d give them a shot.
I took my Persian into a few battles, just to see how it would perform. It wasn’t anything crazy, but it did alright. Scratch seemed to be its main attack, and it did a decent job of chipping away at the opponent’s health. Return, on the other hand, seemed to do more damage the more I used it. Not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to work, but hey, it worked for me.
After a bunch of battles, I started to get a feel for how to use Persian. It’s not going to be one-shotting anything, but it can hold its own if you play it right. I mostly used it to wear down opponents, switching it out when a Fighting-type came along.
I also tried out some different move combinations. I mean, there are other moves it can learn, like Play Rough and some Dark-type stuff, I think, but I felt like Scratch and Return were a pretty solid combo. I think it is the strongest moveset. Also, I looked up some stuff online, and it turns out that other people seem to think that Scratch and Return are a good way to go too. It was a relief to know I wasn’t totally off base!
I even tried using it in raids, but honestly, it didn’t do much. It’s just not strong enough to take on those big guys. It’s better for those smaller battles, you know? Like against other players or in those Team GO Rocket fights.
So, what did I learn from all this?
- Persian is a Normal-type, so it’s weak to Fighting.
- Scratch and Return are a good moveset.
- It’s not a raid Pokemon, keep it for smaller battles.
- It is not good at one-shotting any Pokemon.
It was a fun little experiment. I wouldn’t say Persian is going to be my go-to Pokemon from now on, but it’s definitely got its uses. And hey, it’s pretty cool-looking, so that’s a plus. Maybe I’ll try out the Alolan Persian next. Who knows, maybe that one will be even better! I also tried Blaziken, its moveset is not good too. I think maybe I should change my job.
Anyways, that’s my experience with Persian. If any of you have tried it out and found something that works even better, let me know! I’m always up for trying new things.
