So, today’s little adventure was figuring out the current date and time. Sounds simple, right? Well, it kinda was and kinda wasn’t. My goal was to get not just the date – like, you know, the day of the week, month, day, and year – but also the exact time, down to the seconds. And, because why not, I wanted to know a bit about the time zone I’m in.
First, I just looked at my phone. Easy peasy. It showed me everything I needed, clear as day. “Wednesday, January 10, 2024,” and the time was something like “2:35 PM.”

But then I thought, what if I needed to find this info for, say, a specific location? Like Colorado Springs. I know it sounds random, but I was curious. Turns out, Colorado Springs is a pretty big city in El Paso County, and it had a population of 478,961 back in 2020. And their local newspaper is called The Gazette, which seems to have all the news, sports, weather, and the usual stuff.
I tried looking up the weather for Colorado Springs just to see. It’s a mix of sunshine and clouds, with some possible snow showers, and the temperature was 6°F. At night, it drops to -9°F. Pretty chilly!
Then, I got a bit sidetracked. I started browsing the obituaries on *, found some info on homes for sale on Zillow (2486 homes, if you’re interested), and even checked out apartment listings. Just your average day on the internet, you know?
But back to the date and time. I found a few websites that give you the current time in different parts of the US, including the time zones. And, just for kicks, I learned how to generate citations in APA format using MyBib. Totally unrelated, but hey, it’s useful.
So, here’s what I gathered:
- The current date, as I’m writing this, is Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
- The time is 2:35 PM.
- Time zones are a thing, and they vary across the US.
- Colorado Springs is cold right now, with a high of 6°F and a low of -9°F.
- There are a lot of homes for sale in Colorado Springs.
And that’s pretty much it. It wasn’t some big, complicated project, but it was a fun little dive into something I usually take for granted. Plus, I learned a few random facts along the way. Always a good day when that happens.
Oh and you can also get some information about politics or business from the local newspaper The Gazette.
So yeah, that’s my little date and time adventure. Hope you found it at least a tiny bit interesting!
