Alright, so I’ve been waiting for this “MLB The Show 23” roster update like crazy. I mean, I check almost every day to see if the new rosters are out, and today was finally the day!
First thing I did this morning, before even having breakfast, was fired up my PlayStation. Booted up the game, and yep, there it was – the prompt for the new update. Man, I was excited! I clicked “download” so fast, I probably set a new record or something.

Downloading and Installing
While it was downloading, I went and made some coffee. It felt like forever, even though it was probably only a few minutes. I kept glancing back at the screen like a hawk. You know how it is when you’re really pumped for something.
Once it finished downloading, it started installing. This part always feels slow, too. I swear they make these progress bars move slower on purpose just to build up the anticipation. It is just a joke, I understand this needs time.
Checking Out the Changes
Finally, it was done! I jumped straight into the roster menu. I started scrolling through my favorite team, checking out all the changes. Some of the players’ ratings had gone up, some down. It’s always interesting to see how the developers adjusted things based on how the real-life players have been performing.
- New players! I found a few new faces that got called up from the minors. It’s always cool to see some fresh talent in the game.
- Rating changes. One of my favorite players got a nice boost, which was awesome. A couple of others got downgraded a bit, but hey, that’s baseball.
- Trades. There were a few trades reflected in the update, so I had to get used to seeing some familiar faces on different teams.
After that I took a look around, I started a new game with the updated rosters. It felt good to play with the most up-to-date teams. It’s like the game got a little refresh, you know? It’s these little things that keep me coming back to “MLB The Show.” There is no doubt that I will keep checking for more updates like crazy in the future.
