Oh boy, let me tell you about my latest adventure in Pokemon GO. I’ve been hooked on this game lately, walking around my neighborhood, phone in hand, trying to catch ’em all. Today, I want to share my experience with catching and evolving a Poochyena. It’s not the rarest Pokemon out there, but it’s definitely a cool one, especially when it evolves.
So, first things first, I needed to actually find a Poochyena. I remembered reading somewhere that they’re Dark-type Pokemon, which probably means they like to hang out in darker areas or come out at night. I started my hunt in the evening, walking around parks and areas with lots of trees where shadows are. It took a little bit, but eventually, one popped up on my screen. It looked kind of like a little wolf or a hyena. I threw a Pokeball, did the usual curveball throw for extra XP, and bam! Caught it.

My First Catch
- Find Poochyena: Walked around shady areas during the evening.
- Catch Poochyena: Used a curveball throw with a regular Pokeball.
Now, I wasn’t just going to stop at one. I wanted that evolution, Mightyena. I kept walking, catching more Poochyena as they appeared. They weren’t super common, but they weren’t exactly rare either. Each time I caught one, I got some candies, which are needed for evolution. I also made sure to transfer the ones with lower stats back to the professor for extra candy. It’s a bit of a grind, but hey, that’s part of the game.
Collecting Candies
- Catch More Poochyena: Kept walking and catching to collect candies.
- Transfer Poochyena: Sent the lower CP ones to the professor for more candies.
After a few days of doing this, I finally had enough candies. To evolve Poochyena, you need 25 candies. I checked my strongest Poochyena, made sure it had good stats, and then hit that evolve button. The animation was pretty cool, watching it transform into Mightyena. It felt rewarding, seeing all that walking and catching pay off.
Evolving to Mightyena
- Collect 25 Candies: Finally gathered enough to evolve.
- Evolve Poochyena: Chose the strongest one and evolved it into Mightyena.
I’ve been using my new Mightyena in gym battles and raids. It’s not the strongest Pokemon out there, but it’s definitely a solid addition to my team. Plus, it looks pretty awesome. I’ve learned that its best moves are Snarl and Return, so I’ve been focusing on using those in battles.
All in all, it’s been a fun experience catching and evolving Poochyena. It’s a reminder that even the more common Pokemon can be rewarding to collect and train. Plus, it’s a good excuse to get out of the house and get some exercise. If you’re playing Pokemon GO, give it a try. You might find yourself enjoying the hunt for these little guys just as much as I did. Who knows, maybe we’ll even cross paths one day while we’re both out there trying to catch ’em all!
