Okay, so, I wanted to get into the whole 2K23 scene, especially with the layup animations. I’ve been seeing a lot of cool moves online and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” So, I started digging around to figure out what I needed to make my player move like those pros.
First thing I did was jump into the game and check out the animation store. Man, there are a ton of options there! It was kind of overwhelming, to be honest. But I quickly realized that not all layup packages are created equal. Some looked fancy, but I needed to know which ones were actually effective and what I needed for my player to use them.

Next, I spent some time watching videos from those 2K gurus. They were breaking down the requirements for each layup package. Turns out, it’s mostly about your player’s driving layup rating. Some packages need a higher rating than others. For example, I noticed that the “Long Athlete” package, which is super popular, requires a pretty high driving layup.
- Some packages need a driving layup in the 70s.
- Others require you to be in the 80s or even 90s.
- A few packages require driving dunk 80.
I also found out that your player’s height and position can play a role. Some animations are better suited for smaller, quicker guards, while others are made for taller, more powerful forwards or centers. I played around with different builds in the MyPLAYER Builder to see how these attributes affected which animations I could unlock.
After all that research, I finally decided on a few layup packages that I wanted to try. I made sure my player met the attribute requirements, equipped the animations, and then headed to the practice facility to test them out. It took a while to get the timing down, but once I did, it was pretty sweet pulling off those new moves in games.
So, that’s basically my journey into the world of layup animations in 2K23. It’s not just about picking the coolest-looking moves, but also understanding what your player needs to pull them off. It takes a bit of time and effort, but it’s definitely worth it to add some flair to your game!
