So, I’ve been on this quest, right? A quest to catch myself a Magikarp in Pokemon Go. It’s not as easy as it sounds, let me tell you. I mean, this little fish is more elusive than you’d think!
First off, I started hitting up all the usual water spots. You know, the local lake, that sad little pond in the park, even the river downtown. I figured, “Hey, Magikarp’s a water Pokemon, it’s gotta be near water, right?” Wrong! I spent hours, hours I tell ya, walking around these places. My phone’s pedometer was going crazy, but my Pokedex? Not so much.

Then, I remembered reading somewhere, maybe it was on one of those Pokemon fan sites, that sometimes these guys show up in unexpected places. So, I broadened my search. I started checking out places with fountains, those little decorative ponds in malls, heck, even the local swimming pool (from the outside, of course, I’m not jumping fences for a Magikarp).
- Walked around the local lake for days.
- Visited every pond I could find on the map.
- Stared at the river for so long, I think I saw the same boat go by five times.
Still nothing. It was like this Magikarp was playing hard to get. I was starting to think maybe my game was bugged or something. But then, a friend of mine, she’s a real Pokemon whiz, she told me to chill out. “They’re not always where you expect them,” she said. “Just keep exploring.”
So, I did. I kept walking, kept exploring, kept checking every water source I could think of. And then, one day, I was walking by this little creek I’d never even noticed before. It was barely a trickle of water, hidden behind some bushes. And bam! There it was. A Magikarp, flopping around right there on my screen.
I couldn’t believe it. After all that searching, all that walking, this little guy was just chilling in a tiny creek. I tossed a Pokeball, held my breath, and… gotcha! Finally, I had my Magikarp.
It wasn’t easy, but it sure was worth it.
And if you’re wondering, yeah, I did power it up and evolve it into a Gyarados. A mighty, mighty Gyarados.
