So, I wanted to get into “The Elder Scrolls Online” again, specifically messing around with this “Rockgrove” trial. I’ve heard people talking about it, and it sounded pretty cool. I remember I had the game a while back, but never really did much with it. I think I had the Minion app to help with AddOns and stuff, which was a lifesaver back then.
First thing I did was to re-download the game. That took a while because, you know, it’s a huge game. While it was downloading, I started looking up some stuff about Rockgrove. People were saying it’s this 12-player trial, and it’s got some tough bosses and cool rewards. I also dusted off the Minion app and updated all my AddOns. Some of them were so outdated, it was hilarious.

Once everything was set up, I jumped into the game. I had to remember how to play, which was a bit of a struggle. My character was still there, looking all epic, but I felt like a total noob. I spent some time just running around, getting used to the controls again. It felt like the first time I put on a pair of old boots. Then I started to collect some materials and gold to prepare for the trial.
Then came the hard part – finding a group for Rockgrove. I joined a few guilds, asked around in chat, and finally found a group that was willing to take a newbie like me. They were all super experienced and knew exactly what they were doing. But I think they might need more people, so they took me in anyway.
The trial itself was insane. We fought through waves of enemies, solved some puzzles, and then faced the big bosses. I died a lot, not gonna lie. But my teammates were patient and explained the mechanics to me. We wiped a few times, but it was a blast. Each time we tried, I get a little bit better.
After a few attempts, we finally beat it! It was such a rush. I didn’t even care much about the rewards, the experience itself was awesome. I felt like I really earned it, even though I was carried a bit. I mean, I still got carried hard by these good people.
Here’s what I learned:
- Update your AddOns: Seriously, Minion makes it so easy. Some of my AddOns were ancient.
- Find a good group: Playing with experienced people who are willing to teach is a game-changer. It’s very important to join a good group.
- Don’t be afraid to die: It’s part of the learning process. Just get back up and try again.
- Have fun: It’s just a game, after all. Even when you’re struggling, try to enjoy the ride.
I’m definitely going to keep playing ESO and try more trials. Rockgrove was a great experience, and I can’t wait to see what else the game has to offer. It’s like rediscovering an old favorite band, like Eric Clapton or Genesis, but in a game form. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll be the one carrying newbies through trials. Or maybe not, haha.
What comes next
Next time, I want to try to collect some better gear. I need to learn more about builds and stuff, there are so many things. But for now, I will just enjoy the feeling of beating something that hard.
