Okay, so, I’ve been playing a ton of Animal Crossing lately, and I finally got Sable to open up to me! It took a while, you know? I’ve been trying to do this since I started playing the game a few weeks ago. It’s a bit of a process, but it’s totally worth it. Here’s how I did it.
First, I went into the Able Sisters shop. You know, the one run by the two hedgehogs, Mabel and Sable? Mabel is the one that runs the shop and Sable is always sitting in the back, working away at her sewing machine.

When I first started playing, I would always say “Hi” to Mabel and buy clothes from her. She’s super friendly, always greeting you with a smile. But Sable, she’s a bit different. She’s shy, you know? Keeps to herself. I would see her there, stitching away, and I really wanted to become her friend.
So, I started by just going into the shop every day. Even if I didn’t need anything, I’d pop in, chat with Mabel, and then I’d try to talk to Sable. At first, she’d just give me these short answers, barely looking up from her work. It was a little discouraging, but I kept at it. I figured, she’s just reserved, needs some time.
- Day 1-3: Sable barely acknowledged me. Just a few grunts and nods. She’s really focused on her sewing.
- Day 4-6: She started to warm up a little. Gave me some one-word answers. Progress!
- Day 7 and beyond: Finally, she started talking to me! Actual sentences!
I kept visiting every day, and slowly but surely, Sable started opening up. She started telling me about her work, her family. I found out that the Able Sisters shop has been in their family for generations, and they have a third sister named Labelle that I haven’t met yet in the game! I was so stoked to learn more about her and her story.
She’s starting to trust me now
It was like, after a week of daily visits, she finally considered me a regular. A friend, even! Now, when I go into the shop, she actually looks up and smiles when I talk to her. She even gives me custom patterns to use in my designs! I’ve heard that in previous games, she would give you a gift after you befriended her, but I haven’t gotten anything like that yet. I’m still hopeful, though!
It’s really cool to see this side of her. She’s such a hard worker, always dedicated to her craft. It makes me appreciate the clothes in the shop even more, knowing the story behind them and the hedgehog who helped make them. I’m really happy that I took the time to get to know her. It’s one of my favorite parts of the game so far!
So yeah, that’s my story about befriending Sable in Animal Crossing. It takes patience, but it’s definitely worth the effort. If you’re playing the game, I highly recommend trying to become her friend. You won’t regret it! Trust me on this one!
