Okay, so I’ve been playing Madden for, like, forever, and one thing that always gets me hyped is the soundtrack. I decided to make my own “best of” list, and let me tell you, it was a trip down memory lane.
First, I opened up my old game consoles – yeah, I still have them – and fired up each Madden game one by one. I grabbed a pen and paper and jotted down the songs that immediately got my head bobbing.
Then, I started digging through online forums and old blog posts, to see what other people considered their favorites. I found some cool playlists that people shared. There were some songs I’d totally forgotten about. I even found some comments saying that Madden 21 and 22 are trash, but I personally quite like them. But for Madden 16, I can feel the same. I mean, I found “Intro,” “Ghetto Boy,” and “Heavydirtysoul” pretty good, but that’s it.
After that, I compiled all the songs into one massive playlist. It was a real mix of genres – rock, hip-hop, everything. Some were a bit too heavy for me, but I added them anyway, you know, for variety’s sake. I even discovered a track by Xzibit called “The Mad in Game” which was the first rapper featured in a Madden edition. It is not in my taste, but it is worth noting.
I spent hours listening to the playlist, tweaking it here and there. I added “Take Me Out,” by Franz Ferdinand and “American Idiot,” by Green Day ’cause they’re certified bangers in my book. Then, I threw in “Da Heavy Hittas,” by Jazze Pha, “Give It Up,” by Midtown for good measure.

It’s not perfect, and it’s definitely subjective, but it’s my ultimate Madden soundtrack. Making it was a blast, and it really reminded me why I love these games so much – the music’s a huge part of the experience.
