Alright, so today I want to share my experience with the Giratina raid in Pokémon GO. It was quite a challenge, but I managed to pull it off.
First things first, I knew I needed a solid team to go up against this beast. Some folks online were saying you could take it down solo if you played it perfectly, but that sounded like a tall order. I mean, Altered Forme Giratina has a really low defense, but still, soloing it? I figured it’s better to team up. After reading some guides, I saw that with optimal weather, max friendship, and perfect level 40 counters, 2 players could do it. Without all that, 4 players with level 20 counters would be the way to go.

So, I gathered a few friends, and we decided to give it a shot. We checked the weather – no luck there, it wasn’t in our favor. We didn’t have max friendship either, so we knew it was going to be a bit tough. We made sure our Pokémon were at least level 30, as one of the guides suggested. For counters, we brought in our best. I saw online that Mega Tyranitar, Mega Rayquaza, and Dawn Wings Necrozma were top picks. I didn’t have all of those, but I did have a decent Tyranitar.
We jumped into the raid, and man, Giratina was hitting hard! I started off with a strong Pokémon, using Moonblast while my health was still high. One guide I read said that Giratina needs 2 or 3 hits to KO you, so the strategy was to use Moonblast when you’re not too damaged. Then, if you get hit, use Lunar Blessing to heal up and make the next hit more likely to miss. That sounded like a plan, so I tried to stick to it.
We kept at it, dodging when we could, healing up, and throwing everything we had at Giratina. It was a back-and-forth battle, but we were making progress. My Tyranitar was doing okay, but I could see why those Mega Pokémon were recommended. They would have made things a lot easier. Anyway, we kept chipping away at Giratina’s health.
Finally, after a tense battle, we managed to take it down! It was close, but we did it. Teamwork really made the difference here. We were all pretty stoked.
Then came the moment to catch it. I was a bit nervous, not gonna lie. I used a Golden Razz Berry and threw a Nice curveball. Missed. Tried again, this time with a Great curveball. And… got it! That feeling was awesome. Capturing a Legendary like Giratina is always a thrill.
- Team up: Trying to solo Giratina is just not worth it unless you’re super prepared.
- Counters matter: Having the right Pokémon makes a huge difference.
- Use the right moves: That Moonblast and Lunar Blessing combo was pretty effective.
- Catching it is a rush: Landing that Great throw and finally catching Giratina was the best part.
My main takeaways from this raid are:
So yeah, that’s my Giratina raid story. It was tough, but we made it happen. If you’re planning to take on Giratina, I hope my experience helps you out. Good luck, and happy raiding!
